Introducing, for the first time in public... Kevin and Stephanie Prince
The First Dance. Jack Johnson's "Better Together"
With the two years of the long distance relationship, lots of phone calls, texts and always planning for the next time to be together, this song became the theme. One day, while doing dishes after dinner and listening to this song, Kevin turned to Stephanie and said "This is how I feel about us. We spend so much time apart but whenever we are together, life is never better." From that day forward, it was always known that it would be the first dance wedding song.
The Toasts.
FOB, MOH, and the BM gave witty, sweet, sentimental and wonderful toasts to the Bride and Groom. Even though we may never remember every word of every toast, when looking back we will remember how each of them made us laugh and warmed our hearts.
"The Blessing" (feel free to add Christmas Vacation emphasis here)
Our priest was unable to make it to the reception and so we asked the only grandparent remaining. Mr. Edward Piasta (Maternal Grandfather of the Bride)
The Cake.
In sticking with the Autumn, Fall theme.... a tree cake.
Father Daughter Dance.
Paul Simon- "Father and Daughter"
This is a song that had been picked out since high school. When Jim was having a sentimental moment about his little girl growing up and applying to colleges. He put this song on. There were tears, laughter and dancing around. For the next, uh, 10 years this song would come out and talks of dancing at a wedding would be had. As daddy's little girl, this was a special part of the reception that was a long time coming.
Mother/Son Dance
Rod Stewart-"Forever Young"
A fun, upbeat song that made for a memorable dance for Kevin and Liz. When sitting and listening to the words, it makes perfect sense that when asked what song Liz would like, she didn't hesitate in choosing this one.
Bouquet Toss/Garter Toss
Uncertain of whether we even wanted to add this portion to our reception, we went ahead with it for the sake of tradition (and we are glad we did).
(A surprise Laker garter)

Love love love!!!
ReplyDeleteI was getting all teary-eyed again and then I did it: I acted out "The Bless-ingggggg" (because all Liebels do...we can't help ourselves) and I've been snickering ever since.
I love reliving your amazing wedding day every time I read your blog.
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
